Wendy Williams’ Conservatorship Battle takes a Turn after New Medical tests Question Dementia Diagnosis

Wendy Williams’ ongoing conservatorship battle could take a major turn after new medical test results reportedly contradicted her previous diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. Nearly two years after her team announced she was suffering from the progressive neurological condition, a recent evaluation has suggested she may not have the disease at all, according to TMZ.

Sources told the media on November 11 that Williams recently underwent a full neurological assessment by a leading specialist in New York. The results from that evaluation reportedly challenge her 2024 diagnosis and were sent to her legal team late last month. Her attorneys are now expected to file court motions seeking to end her court-ordered guardianship based on the new medical findings.

The 61-year-old former talk show host was first diagnosed in February 2024 with both frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, conditions that affect memory, speech, and behavior. At the time, her team shared that she had begun to “lose words” and “act erratically,” which led doctors to pursue further testing.

Williams, who has also battled Graves’ disease and lymphedema for years, has been under guardianship since 2022. The arrangement placed control of her finances and major decisions in the hands of a court-appointed guardian. Her situation has become increasingly complicated.

Earlier this year, her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed a $250 million lawsuit seeking to end the guardianship, arguing that it had “become a weapon, not a shield.” Hunter also claimed that Williams was being “confined against her will” in an assisted living facility, where she allegedly has limited contact with family and friends.

If the new medical results are confirmed, they could reshape the entire case and open the door for Williams to regain control over her personal and financial affairs. Her lawyers are reportedly preparing to use the updated findings to challenge the existing guardianship order in court.

Williams has been largely out of the public eye since her health struggles began, though her loyal fan base continues to follow updates closely. Once known for her outspoken personality and sharp commentary on The Wendy Williams Show, she has spent the past few years focusing on her health and recovery.

As her legal team moves forward with the new evidence, the coming weeks could determine whether Williams will finally reclaim her independence and return to managing her own life after years under court supervision.
