Former Department of Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem reportedly lost more than just her position in the Trump administration. According to a new report, she has also been removed from the inner circle at Donald Trump’s private Florida club.
Rob Shuter reported that Noem’s complimentary membership at Mar-a-Lago has been revoked following her departure from the Department of Homeland Security. The claim, published in the Naughty But Nice Substack on March 10, cites sources familiar with the situation at Trump’s Palm Beach estate.
The move suggests that the privileges tied to political influence within Trump’s orbit can disappear quickly once someone falls out of favour within the administration.
“Cabinet members get certain perks while they’re in favor,” a Palm Beach insider told Shuter. “But once you’re no longer in the inner circle, those privileges disappear pretty quickly.”

While serving in high-ranking government roles aligned with Trump, certain allies have reportedly enjoyed access to exclusive social circles connected to the president’s private properties. However, according to the report, that access may not extend beyond their official positions.
For Noem, the change reportedly means she would now need to pay the same hefty costs required of new members if she wants to maintain access to Mar-a-Lago. The club is known for its steep entry requirements and elite membership list.
That means if the former South Dakota governor, 54, wants to keep rubbing elbows with the MAGA elite, she’ll have to pay a $1 million initiation fee and annual dues of about $20,000.
Sources also suggested that Noem’s new government role does not guarantee automatic access to Trump’s social network.
“Her new diplomatic title doesn’t automatically keep her on the guest list,” a source explained of Noem, who is now Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas. “If she wants back in, she’ll have to apply and write a very big check.”
The reported change comes after Noem was removed from her leadership role at the Department of Homeland Security. According to another source quoted in the report, the decision came as a surprise to the former governor.
A Washington insider told Shuter that Noem was “completely blindsided” by the Development and had believed her standing with Trump remained strong. “Kristi believed she was one of Trump’s most loyal allies.”
The reported loss of Mar-a-Lago privileges, insiders say, added another layer of frustration following her sudden exit from the administration, highlighting how quickly political alliances and social access can shift in Washington and beyond.
