There was a grand party at Mar-a-Lago the same night Alex Pretti was killed by federal agents. Just hours after the fatal shooting in Minneapolis, a lavish event unfolded at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago with showgirls, champagne, and an atmosphere many people called out of touch. As news of Pretti’s death was only beginning to spread, the contrast left viewers stunned.
Footage from the party was shared by MeidasTouch and quickly spread online. The video shows guests welcomed by women dressed as showgirls, dancers performing in a swimming pool while floating inside giant bubbles, and attendees sipping champagne in what looked like a full scale celebration.
Some believe the party may have been tied to the release of Melania Trump’s Amazon documentary. The timing led people online to question whether that launch was being celebrated. At the same time, details about the event remain unclear. It is possible the gathering was a private function, and the Mar-a-Lago club does operate as a private venue, which means the host could have been someone else.
Trump himself was not present at the party, but that did little to slow the reaction online. Social media filled up with strong opinions almost immediately. One user wrote, “Disgustingly, opulent… and the world around them burns!” Another said, “This Mar-a-Lago ball is just hours after Alex Pretti was executed by two of Trump’s masked Minneapolis ICE goons.”
A third added, “I don’t expect [MAGA] to have the intellectual capacity to understand how vile this ghastly display is.” Not everyone placed blame on the attendees. One person offered a softer take, writing, “I agree, but unfortunately, I’m sure some of them just need a paycheck to survive.”
Pretti was fatally shot by federal agents who fired multiple times while he was holding a phone. He did have a licensed weapon on him, but he did not threaten anyone with it. Earlier, the Trump administration had labeled him a domestic terrorist and described him as violent.
Since then, questions have mounted around how the incident was handled. Stephen Miller has acknowledged that the agents did not follow the right protocol. Investigations are ongoing, and ICE members are being pulled out of the region while the situation is reviewed.
Pretti’s family has shared a statement and said they are devastated by the loss. Moments before he was killed, he had been helping a woman off the floor. Trump has said the investigation will be “honorable and honest,” as the family and the public wait for answers.
