Actress Kim Delaney is pushing back against allegations tied to a 2022 car accident that continues to unfold in court. The former All My Children star, known to soap fans as Jenny Gardner and later seen on General Hospital as Jackie Templeton, was involved in a November 2022 crash in which she allegedly rear-ended a motorcyclist at a red light and left the scene.
In January 2024, the motorcyclist, Dzhamal Badalov, filed a lawsuit claiming he “suffered injuries as a result of negligence” and alleged Delaney was “being under the influence of alcohol” at the time of the collision.
Now, in a February court filing, Delaney disputes those claims. According to the documents, she “admits that an accident occurred at a red light where she rear-ended,” but denies she had been drinking. She also maintains that she left the scene because she feared for her safety.
Delaney stated in the filing, “Several people had surrounded her and she has a previous history of personal assault in this neighborhood,” explaining her decision to leave. The documents further note, “(Kim Delaney) is an actor who has appeared in television series and movies, and is additionally fearful of any retribution or attack based on perceived celebrity status.”

Her attorney strongly rejected the allegations of intoxication, writing, “There is absolutely no admissible evidence of drinking and driving in this case. There was no blood alcohol or breathalyzer test and no law enforcement officer administered any field sobriety tests.” Delaney’s legal team also argues that Badalov “is attempting to piece together a character attack.”
Badalov’s account differs sharply. In the lawsuit, he alleges that “Kim was driving erratically before the crash, reeked of alcohol and left the scene after trying to offer him money not to call the police.”
The case arrives amid other personal legal troubles for Delaney. In March 2025, she and her husband, James Morgan, were involved in a domestic dispute that reportedly became physical. Delaney was arrested for alleged assault with a deadly weapon, while Morgan was arrested for alleged domestic violence.
Delaney first rose to prominence when All My Children creator Agnes Nixon cast her as Jenny Gardner from 1981 to 1984. She later gained primetime recognition for her role as Diane Russell on NYPD Blue from 1995 to 2003, appeared on Army Wives, and returned to daytime television in 2020.
