Supporters of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania are showing mixed reactions to rising gas prices linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran, with some standing firmly behind the president while others say they have had enough.
During a recent report from Millersburg, Pennsylvania, Johnathan Allen spoke with local voters about how the war and rising fuel costs are shaping their views of Trump. Gas prices have climbed noticeably since the conflict escalated, putting pressure on many households.
According to AAA, the national average price for gasoline has risen to around $3.80 per gallon. Just a month earlier, the average was slightly below $3. The increase came after the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran late last month, raising concerns about energy supply and regional instability.
Despite the higher prices, some voters in the area said they still support Trump’s decision to strike Iran.
During a segment on NBC News’s Meet the Press Now on Tuesday, Millersburg resident Mike Purcell described the military action as a “great decision.” While acknowledging that pump prices have increased, he said he’s willing to accept the added cost.

“I’m willing to ‘pay a little more,’” Purcell said, indicating he believes the decision was justified. Another resident, Jim Matter, shared a similar view. He argued that confronting Iran now could prevent greater dangers in the future.
“In the long run, it’s going to help us out, because if they get nuclear weapons, you know, we might not even be here in a couple of years. I think that [Trump’s] done a good job,” he said.

Kim Schaffner also said she would accept higher gas prices if it meant strengthening national security. According to her, temporary financial strain is worth it if it helps keep the country safe. She added that she believes prices will “eventually” go down.
While Allen found several voters willing to tolerate the price increase, not everyone shared that patience. Some residents expressed frustration with both the war and the rising cost of fuel.
Perry seeks to defend his title in a rematch against former news anchor Janelle Stelson in the upcoming midterms. The 2024 race was exceedingly close, as Stelson lost to Perry by only 5,133 votes, according to City and State Pennsylvania.
During the report, Allen spoke with Amanda Robbins, a voter who said she had previously supported Trump multiple times but now feels strongly disappointed.
When asked what message she would give Trump if she could speak to him directly, Robbins did not hold back.
“You are a worthless pile of s**t,” she said. Allen followed up by asking how many times she had voted for the president. “Three times. That was my bad. Apparently, I’m an idiot!” Robbins declared.
The conversations highlight a growing divide among some Trump supporters as economic pressures and foreign policy decisions collide. While many still back the president’s approach, others appear to be reconsidering their support as the conflict and its costs continue.
