The women of “The View” isn’t happy that Nancy Pelosi was rejected communion by a San Francisco archbishop, so Whoopi Goldberg called him out on Monday’s show.
On Friday, Salvatore Cordileone denied Pelosi communion because of her position on abortion rights. In a letter to the Democrat, Cordileone wrote that “should you not publicly repudiate your advocacy for abortion ‘rights’ or else refrain from referring to your Catholic faith in public and receiving Holy Communion, I would have no choice but to make a declaration, in keeping with canon 915, that you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion”, as per Fox News report.
Whoopi Goldberg sighed a bit, pausing to make a distaste noise while explaining the situation.
“This is not your job, dude! You can’t — that is not up to you to make that decision,” Whoopi said. “You know, what is the saying? It’s kind of amazing. But, you know, what is the point of communion, right? It’s for sinners. It’s for sinners. It’s the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners. How dare you?”

Whoopi then added that, rather than Cordileone, the religious leader whose opinion would matter here would be Pope Francis, and that the situation starts to “blur the lines between church and state.”
Following that, the women at the table went into greater detail about their issues with the Catholic church in general, pointing out the various public relations gaffes it has made over the years.
Shortly after the show, Goldberg’s comments went viral, with many arguing that the decision to give anyone communion is entirely up to the Archbishop.
