The 49-year-old pop icon was performing in El Salvador as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour when the scary moment happened. While singing her hit song Si Te Vas, she appeared to twist her right ankle mid-song. Within seconds, she lost her footing and went down hard on stage, landing on her elbow and pulling her microphone stand down with her.
The fall happened at Jorge Mágico González Stadium in San Salvador. For a brief moment, the crowd fell silent in shock. Then cheers erupted as Shakira stood back up and continued performing as if nothing had happened.
Videos captured by fans quickly spread across social media. The clips show the exact second her ankle gives out and the audible gasps from the audience. Many fans online shared messages of concern, praising her dedication and toughness.
Shakira later addressed the fall herself. Posting a clip to her Instagram Stories, she joked in Spanish, “Don’t worry, I’m made of rubber hahah.” The lighthearted response reassured fans that she was okay and in good spirits after the tumble.
Supporters flooded social media with encouraging comments. On X, fans called her “a warrior” and applauded her professionalism for finishing the performance despite the fall.
This was not the first time Shakira had stumbled during a live show and powered through it. Last May, she experienced a similar fall during a Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran performance in Montreal. Just like in El Salvador, she quickly got up and continued singing.
The San Salvador concerts marked a milestone for the tour, as they were Shakira’s first-ever performances in the Central American country. Demand was strong, with multiple dates selling out quickly.
The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is one of the biggest undertakings of her career. Launched in February 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the tour supports her twelfth studio album of the same name. It has drawn massive crowds across several continents and become one of the highest-grossing tours by a female artist, breaking records in ticket sales and box-office revenue.
The album title, “Women Don’t Cry Anymore,” reflects a deeply personal chapter in Shakira’s life. After her 2022 split from former partner Gerard Piqué, she has spoken openly about channelling her experiences into her music. In interviews, she has described returning to work and focusing on her creative projects as empowering.
Despite the unexpected mishap, the show went on. Shakira is scheduled to continue the tour with upcoming stops in Mexico, followed by performances in the Middle East, before wrapping up in Abu Dhabi in April.
For fans in the crowd, the fall was a heart-stopping moment. But in true performer fashion, Shakira proved that even a hard tumble cannot stop the music.
