Rapper Luci4, born James Dear, has tragically passed away at the age of 23. Known for his hit song “BodyPartz,” Luci4 died on Sunday, February 22, at a private residence, according to an L.A. County Medical Examiner’s report.
His grandparents told TMZ that he died at a friend’s house, and when authorities arrived at the scene, his wallet was reportedly empty. Axxturel, also known by his stage name, was declared dead by the Los Angeles Fire Department at 11:40 a.m. The L.A. Police Department is now investigating the incident.
The rapper was a rising star in the microgenre sigilkore, a trap music style that fuses electronic and cloud rap. Luci4 first gained popularity on TikTok in 2021 before signing with Atlantic Records. His breakout single, “BodyPartz,” went gold and was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2024.
In 2025, Luci4 released his album Vampmania 3, and in early 2026, he dropped several new singles, including “Otw,” “Sleeve,” “B4 the Storm,” and “#NEVERSURRENDER,” as reported by Billboard.
Luci4’s manager, Kayla G, confirmed his death in a heartfelt TikTok post on February 22. She wrote, “I am devastated to inform you that today, James, Luci4, Axxturel has passed away. He was truly a leader, a king, and a musician and a genius.”
She continued, “There’s nobody like him and there will never be. We all loved him dearly. Rest Easy. Please allow family and friends privacy and patience during this difficult time.” Luci4’s untimely passing has left fans and the music community in shock, with many reflecting on his musical impact and potential.
