Clifton Powell Jr., Sasha Obama’s new boyfriend, was spotted with Malia Obama in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Malia was seen smoking a cigarette while walking in a public park with her little sister’s new beau, according to photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
The eldest daughter of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama wore a large T-shirt, baggy jeans, and Birkenstock clogs. Clifton Jr., the son of “Ray” actor Clifton Powell, was dressed in a navy tracksuit and a backward baseball cap, says Page Six.
The two appeared to be at ease in each other’s company, implying that Malia has given Sasha’s new relationship her blessing.
Sasha, 20, was rumored to be dating 24-year-old Clifton, a former basketball player after they were spotted looking cozy together in Los Angeles last week. They allegedly began dating after she relocated to the city to attend the University of Southern California.
Clifton Jr. was awarded a four-year basketball scholarship to the University of California, Santa Barbara, but left less than a year later to pursue a career in film. Since then, he has worked on campaigns for Nike and Peloton.
During an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week, Michelle confirmed that Sasha had a boyfriend.
“They loved the Jonas Brothers. Now they are bringing grown men home,” she said of her daughters. “Before it was just, like, pop bands. Now they have boyfriends and real lives.”
Malia, 23, has been dating her boyfriend Rory Farquharson since they met at Harvard in 2017.
