After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to attend the Invictus Games opening in Holland on Saturday over Prince Philip’s memorial service, Queen Elizabeth is said to be “deeply hurt.”
According to Express, Meghan will join Harry in the Netherlands for the first few days of the Invictus Games, an international sports competition founded by the Duke of Sussex for wounded service members and veterans, according to a spokesperson for the Sussexes. This year’s games will take place in The Hague, the Dutch, from April 16 to April 22.
It will be the first time Harry and Meghan have been to Europe together since they left their royal duties two years ago. Meghan will be competing in her second Invictus event. She was seen with Harry for the first time at the Toronto Games in 2017, marking the couple’s first official outing together.
This is a “snub” to the Queen, according to royal experts, after the couple declined to attend Prince Philip’s memorial on March 29. “It’s truly shocking, I think the royal family is deeply hurt, but that is precisely what they must want; otherwise, they wouldn’t act like that” Angela Levin, a royal expert, told The Sun.
“We saw the queen, you can’t help but feel desperately sorry for her, she would have loved to have Harry there for the day. I just think it’s unbelievable. Meghan is going because they’re doing the next Netflix documentary. They’re going with cameras, and she wouldn’t want to miss out on the publicity. It’s such snub, you cannot believe that Harry is the same person as he was in 2018 when I met him.”
The royal expert also added how Harry seemed to be “somewhat brainwashed to hate his family.” Because the event will also be attended by the King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, and his aunt Princess Margriet, honorary chair of the Invictus Games Recommendation Committee, Harry and Meghan are likely to be granted full protection by the Dutch police.
Sussex residents believe the UK is more unsafe than the Netherlands, according to security experts. Former MP Norman Baker, who is a critic of royal spending and secrecy, commented, “It looks petulant. It seems they have Dutch courage but not the British variety.”
