Spanish influencer Sergio Jiménez, known online as “Sancho” or “Sssanchopanza,” has reportedly died during a private New Year’s Eve livestream. He was 37. Spanish outlets El País and El Periódico reported that Jiménez was allegedly taking part in paid challenges during the broadcast, including consuming alcohol and cocaine in exchange for money from viewers.
Jiménez streamed primarily on Kick and Twitch, where he had built a following in recent months. According to People, his online visibility increased significantly in October 2025 after he appeared in a series of videos by streamer Simón Pérez, who has drawn controversy for allegedly using drugs live on stream.
In a YouTube livestream on Sunday, January 4, Pérez claimed that Jiménez consumed six grams of cocaine on the night of his death. Pérez also alleged that he had been in contact with Jiménez’s brother, who said Jiménez drank whiskey during his final livestream. These claims have not been independently verified.
Authorities in Spain have opened a formal investigation. Mossos d’Esquadra, the regional police in Catalonia, confirmed they are investigating the circumstances surrounding Jiménez’s death and have ordered an autopsy. While police have not publicly commented on the specific allegations, they released a video on social media on Tuesday, January 6, warning against participating in dangerous online challenges.
“The consequences of these trends can range from intoxication to physical and psychological effects, and can also have a negative impact on their reputation, affecting job and academic opportunities due to the digital footprint left behind,” an officer said in the video, translated by People. “It’s important to be aware that some trends can have consequences if they involve acts of vandalism or aggression.”
Jiménez’s death comes just days after the passing of another young influencer. TikToker Nurul Athira Auni Mohamad Hafizzan, known online as Athira Auni, died at age 21 following a motorcycle accident early Saturday, January 3. Local outlets reported that she was riding in the right lane when another motorcyclist crashed into her from behind while swerving to avoid her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:30 a.m.
Auni had more than 77,000 followers on a now-deleted TikTok account and was known for livestreams and videos showing her flipping roti canai at her father’s food stall. After her death, a friend shared a black-and-white video of Auni working there, writing, “On Friday, you asked me to record a video of you spreading roti canai for the last time, as if you already knew that night you were going to go make it.”
