Will Smith’s long-awaited Hollywood comeback may be facing a serious setback after a former member of his tour team filed a lawsuit accusing the actor of sexual harassment and retaliation.
According to Radar Online, an insider close to the situation claims the Oscar-winning star has been deeply shaken by the allegations, even though he believes the claims will not hold up.
“Will is absolutely beside himself, and even though he’s convinced the claims are baseless, it’s still been a nightmare,” an insider revealed.
The lawsuit was filed by Brian King Joseph, a former violinist on Smith’s tour who also appeared on America’s Got Talent. Joseph is reportedly seeking $3 million in damages and alleges sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation.

In the complaint, Joseph claims he was subjected to inappropriate behavior and later punished for speaking out. He alleges that after reporting the incident to Smith’s management company, he was “shamed” and ultimately fired.
Smith’s legal team has strongly denied the accusations. Will’s lawyer Allen B. Grodsky said the allegations “are false, baseless and reckless” and “they are categorically denied.”
The timing of the lawsuit could not be worse for Smith, who has spent the past several years attempting to rebuild his public image following the infamous 2022 Oscars incident where he slapped comedian Chris Rock onstage. The fallout from that moment damaged Smith’s reputation and left him largely sidelined in Hollywood.
But recently, he appeared to be making progress. The suit reportedly comes just four months after Smith signed a first-look, multi-movie deal with Paramount Pictures, a major move that signaled studios may be ready to work with him again. The deal was seen as an important step toward restoring his career momentum after nearly four years of public backlash.
Now, however, the new allegations could potentially throw his plans off course and reignite negative attention just as he was trying to move forward. Behind the scenes, sources claim the situation has also taken an emotional toll on Smith personally.
The insider said the Bad Boys star has been in a “dark mood” as he deals with the renewed controversy. The lawsuit may also be creating further strain on his already complicated relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

The couple has faced intense public scrutiny in recent years, particularly after Jada revealed details about their marriage and personal struggles in interviews and her memoir. According to the report, Jada may be nearing her breaking point.
“She’s sick and tired of the constant drama. A lot of people in her world are saying this could be the final straw,” the insider said of Jada. “She’s sick of being collateral damage.”
For Smith, the fear appears to be that the allegations will undo the progress he has made professionally and return him to the same place he was after the Oscars fallout.
“This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Will professionally. He was very hyped up on this being his time for a real comeback. He’s convinced it’s going to taint his name all over again,” the mole added.
As the lawsuit moves forward, it remains to be seen whether Smith’s comeback plans can survive yet another major public controversy.
