Jillian Shriner, the wife of longtime Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has filed for divorce less than a year after she was arrested in connection with an attempted murder case that involved a police shootout. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Jillian cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending the couple’s 20-year marriage.
Jillian is also seeking joint custody of their two sons, ages 17 and 13. The filing marks a significant turn in what has already been a turbulent year for the family. The incident that brought Jillian into national headlines unfolded in April, when Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a call and encountered her inside a neighboring residence.
She was reportedly armed with a handgun. A statement released at the time said, “The officers ordered (Jillian) to drop the handgun numerous times. However, she refused. (Jillian) Then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer Involved Shooting occurred.” No officers were reported injured during the confrontation.

In September, USA Today reported that a judge ruled Jillian would enter a two-year mental health diversion program, according to information shared by her lawyer. The program allows defendants to receive treatment while their case is paused, with the potential for charges to be dismissed upon successful completion.
The arrest came just one month after Jillian publicly revealed that she had been recovering from cancer treatment. In a March Instagram post, she wrote, “Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y’all. I know a lot of us do.” The update drew supportive messages from followers as she shared her health challenges.
Scott Shriner briefly addressed the situation after the April incident, telling TMZ the couple was navigating a “tough time.” The bassist, who joined Weezer in 2001, has not made further public comments about the divorce filing.
The combination of Jillian’s health struggles, legal issues, and the recent divorce filing has placed the family under increased public attention. The court will now weigh custody arrangements and other matters as the divorce proceeds.
