A former Donald Trump supporter says his political shift was not sudden, emotional, or driven by partisan loyalty, but the result of years of sustained research and reflection.
In a publicly shared personal statement, the individual said he voted for Trump three times, actively campaigning for him during the first two elections.
He acknowledged having serious reservations by the third vote, particularly regarding the handling of COVID-19 and the events of January 6, but said he still believed Trump might bring about positive change within what he views as deeply flawed systems.
“That’s why it’s mind-blowing when people say I suddenly developed some random ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome,’” he wrote.

He said his views did not change overnight. Instead, he described spending thousands of hours since around 2019 reading, researching, and closely following how political and economic systems operate and how policies are implemented in practice.
“This isn’t a mood swing,” he said. “It’s the result of paying attention and not looking away.”
I voted for Trump three times. Twice I actively advocated for him and promoted his presidency. The third time I had real reservations after how COVID and January 6th were handled, but I still believed there was a chance voting for him could produce positive change even inside corrupt systems.
So when people act like I suddenly developed some random “TDS,” it’s honestly mind-blowing.
I’ve been paying close attention since around 2019 and I haven’t looked away. This isn’t a random mood swing. It’s the result of thousands of hours of reading, researching, and trying to understand how these systems actually work and how they’re being applied.
You don’t have to believe me. In fact, I’d rather you didn’t take my word for anything. Question everything I say. Do your own research. Come to your own conclusions. I practice what I preach, so that’s what I’ve done.
I’m still learning every day, but I’m done with feelings, vibes, and made-up narratives. If you want to debate, come with facts, not hopes, opinions, dreams, thoughts, and wishes dressed up as real evidence.
America Only, Always!
The former supporter emphasised that he does not expect people to take his word at face value. In fact, he encouraged scepticism, urging others to question his claims, conduct their own research, and reach independent conclusions.
“I practice what I preach,” he wrote. “That’s what I’ve done.”
While he said he continues to learn, he drew a clear line between evidence-based debate and what he described as emotionally driven narratives.
“I’m done with feelings, vibes, and made-up narratives,” he said. “If you want to debate, come with facts, not hopes, opinions, dreams, thoughts, and wishes dressed up as real evidence.”
The statement reflects a growing trend of voters who once strongly identified with Trump but now frame their criticism as rooted in process, policy outcomes, and institutional analysis rather than party loyalty. Despite his criticism, the writer closed with a declaration of patriotism, underscoring that his views stem from concern for the country rather than partisan identity.
“America only, always,” he wrote.
