Kelly Clarkson appreciates the thoughtful Mother’s Day gift from her nanny.
In a new interview, the 40-year-old singer and single mom said that she “almost broke down” last Sunday when her family’s nanny presented her with a very personal gift in honor of Mother’s Day.
“I literally almost cried — like, she walked into the kitchen and was like, ‘Hey, for Mother’s Day, I’m going to give you the gift of time and you can just do whatever you want,’ ” Clarkson recalled to Extra.
Clarkson and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock share two children, 7-year-old River Rose and 6-year-old Remington Alexander. After separating in June 2020 after seven years of marriage, the couple formalized their divorce in March.
Part of what made her Mother’s Day gift so touching, according to the Kelly Clarkson Show host, was the fact that she doesn’t have much free time as a working parent.
“I’m a single mom, right?” she said. “So I’m either at work or with kids.”
Snoop Dogg, Clarkson’s American Song Contest co-host, agreed with her on the matter of free time as a parent throughout the interview.
“No one understands how important time is,” the rapper responded to Clarkson’s heartwarming story.
Snoop Dogg lost his own mother, Beverly Tate, in October 2021, at the age of 70.
When it comes to his Mother’s Day celebrations this year, the iconic rapper revealed that he focused the day on his nearly 25-year-old wife, Shante Broadus.
As per Yahoo, Broadus was invited to a “Woman’s Day” party, which Snoop emphasized was only for her and her fellow mom friends.
“It was all for her and her girls and that’s what you do, get out the way and let ’em have some fun,” the rapper said.
Despite the fact that Clarkson did not throw her own party, she gushed about the lovely Mother’s Day she was able to have because to the “gift of time.”
“I had the best day, and it was amazing,” Clarkson concluded.
