Wendy Williams Reportedly Seeking Met Gala Invitation Amid Ongoing Health Struggles

Wendy Williams is reportedly hoping to make a high-profile return to the spotlight by securing an invitation to next year’s Met Gala, but insiders say her health challenges may stand in the way.

According to RadarOnline, the former talk show host has been quietly trying to rebuild connections in the fashion world and get back into the good graces of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who oversees the exclusive annual event.

“Wendy wants to be invited to the ball so badly,” a fashion insider told the outlet. “She’s been front row at Dennis Basso and LaQuan Smith, trying to remind people she belongs.” Williams, 59, has long been known for her bold fashion choices and outspoken personality, both on and off her hit talk show The Wendy Williams Show, which ran for 13 seasons before ending in 2022.

However, her recent health and legal troubles have made a comeback more complicated. That same year, Williams was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia — conditions that affect language and cognitive function. Her bank, Wells Fargo, raised financial concerns and temporarily froze her accounts, leading to the appointment of a legal guardian to oversee her affairs.

In addition to her neurological diagnosis, Williams has also battled Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid. Despite these serious health challenges, sources say she has been determined to make her presence felt again in the fashion industry.

“She’s been reaching out through mutual contacts and attending smaller fashion events to show she still has style credibility,” said one insider. “Wendy has always loved fashion and sees the Met Gala as her ultimate comeback moment.”

However, those close to the fashion elite say it may be an uphill battle. “She’s seen as a risk,” one stylist told RadarOnline. “Fashion Week will seat her. The Met Gala? Whole different planet.”

The Met Gala, often called the “Oscars of fashion,” is one of the most exclusive social events in the world, with invitations tightly controlled by Wintour and reserved for top designers, celebrities, and cultural figures.

Williams’ team has not publicly commented on the rumors, but her friends say she remains hopeful. “Wendy still wants to be part of that world,” said one source. “She believes she has one more big moment left in her — and the Met Gala would be the perfect stage for it.”
