Brad Pitt ‘Hurt’ as another child drops his surname, friends blame Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt is reportedly struggling emotionally following what many see as another distancing step from one of his children with Angelina Jolie. The latest development came after Maddox was credited simply as “Jolie” instead of “Jolie-Pitt” in the end credits of his mother’s new film, Couture.

The change has sparked renewed attention around the evolving dynamics within the family. According to sources quoted by TMZ, those close to Pitt are finding it difficult to watch him deal with the situation and have begun expressing concern over the growing divide.

Reflecting the sentiment within Pitt’s inner circle, a source said, “It’s sad – this is a textbook example of what a successful campaign to separate a family looks like.”

Maddox’s decision appears to mirror similar moves made by several of his siblings in recent years. In June 2024, the couple’s 17-year-old twin daughter, Vivienne, also dropped “Pitt” from her last name in a public setting.

Shortly before that, their biological eldest daughter, Shiloh, took formal steps to make a legal change. On her 18th birthday in May 2024, she petitioned a Los Angeles judge to remove “Pitt” from her surname.

Zahara was the first among the six children to make such a move publicly. During her sorority induction at Spelman College in November 2023, she introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” omitting Pitt’s surname entirely.

These choices by the children have drawn widespread attention, particularly given the long-standing and highly publicized history between Pitt and Jolie since their separation.

While there has been no direct public comment from Pitt about Maddox’s recent credit change, reports suggest that the repeated shifts have taken an emotional toll. Observers note that each decision appears to further signal an evolving sense of identity among the children.
