Bunnie Xo, the wife of country star Jelly Roll and host of the “Dumb Blonde” podcast, has shared a raw look at the aftermath of her recent facelift procedure, revealing the dramatic swelling and bruising that followed the surgery.
The 46-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday to post a video documenting her experience before and immediately after the operation. In the clip, the first portion shows Bunnie before surgery, while the second half reveals the intense swelling and redness that appeared after the procedure was completed.
In the post-operation footage, her face appears extremely swollen and flushed, and her entire head is tightly wrapped in surgical bandages. Despite the graphic appearance, Bunnie approached the moment with humor.
Joking about her look in the video, she told followers that she resembled comedian Bert Kreischer. Her surgeon, Dr. Daniel J. Gould, also addressed the procedure on Instagram, offering a detailed explanation of the work performed and why Bunnie chose to undergo the treatment.
He began by emphasizing that cosmetic surgery is never a necessity. “Nobody needs plastic surgery, nobody needs a facelift,” he said. According to Dr. Gould, Bunnie sought the procedure not for a dramatic transformation but to address small signs of aging.
“But she came to me because she wanted to improve that little bit of heaviness and laxity in the neck, improve slightly the position of the cheek and add a little bit of volume where she’s lost it before,” he explained.
He also noted that operating on younger patients who already have strong facial structures requires careful planning and restraint.
“When you’re operating on younger patients who already look good, you have to be really thoughtful and careful in order to deliver a result that’s consistent with their anatomy.”
Dr. Gould acknowledged that Bunnie’s appearance in the immediate aftermath of surgery may look alarming, but he reassured viewers that the swelling and bruising are a normal part of the healing process.
“She’s a little bruised, a little swollen, but she’s healing nicely.”
Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, has long been open with fans about her cosmetic procedures and body transformations over the years. She previously spoke publicly about having breast implants and undergoing a Brazilian butt lift.
Her willingness to share both the results and the recovery stages has earned her a reputation for transparency with her audience. Beyond cosmetic procedures, Bunnie has also discussed personal health challenges in recent interviews.
Last month, she revealed that she had briefly used a GLP-1 medication but ultimately stopped after experiencing severe mental health side effects.
She described the experience as deeply troubling. “That was one of the darkest times of my life and it was scary,” she told People. Bunnie added that before that experience, she had mostly dealt only with anxiety rather than depression.
She said she previously “prided [her]self on the fact that [she] only had anxiety” and “never had depression.” The podcast host has been married to Jelly Roll since 2016, and the couple frequently shares glimpses of their personal lives with fans online.
By posting the unfiltered video of her facelift recovery, Bunnie once again gave followers a candid look at a process many celebrities keep private, showing both the humor and reality behind cosmetic surgery recovery.
